CROSSING THE BORDER
Cross-Border shipping in and out of Mexico can become a paperwork nightmare.
Sun Belt is ideally suited to solve the international transport puzzle for companies with "Twin Plants" operating under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
In addition to our Brownsville headquarters, we maintain a trailer yard in Matamoros, Mexico.
Being intimately familiar with both Mexican and American rules and regulations concerning customs, border crossing, storage and cross-docking, Sun Belt can provide consolidated billing or logistic services for United States firms with facilities in Mexico.
This means "Door-to-Door" service to Mexico. Fortune 500 companies presently using this service include, but are not limited to, the Auto Industry, Caterpiller, ThermaTru, Lowes, Schumacher,
Carrier and Tesla Motors.
A Brief History
Sunbelt transportation started in the early 40’s in southern California,
originally known as Industrial Rentals owned and operated by the
Cumberworth Family. Later in 1970 the company was moved to
Brownsville, Tx and it operated in conjunction with Aqua Slide and Dive
serving the transportation needs of all industries.
In 1978 the company changed its name to Sunbelt Rentals and
operated as a privately owned business, managed by the Cumberworth
family, renting trailers to the local shrimp processing industry and
serving the transportation needs of many customers. The company has
grown to a prominent position as a long haul, truckload carrier serving
the transportation industry. Headquarters are in Brownsville, Texas
next to the deep-water Port of Brownsville.
The company is composed of Sunbelt Transportation and J&G truck and
Trailer Repair, as of the early 90s the company starts to get managed by
Mr. John Cumberworth. The Transportation company maintains
approximately 80 late-model power units (all Kenworth) and approximately 150
trailers. All of the trailer equipment is 53ft “air ride” vans and 30
refrigerated units.
In 2003 the company changes its name to Sunbelt Transportation and is
now a multi-million-dollar company which currently employs
approximately 75 to 150 employees on a full-time basis.
